Coop Takidashi-team distributing the Balangon banana to the Tsunami victims.

I-coop Miyagi Consumers Cooperative and Pal System Consumers Cooperative union jointly have carried out Takidashi service ( cook and delivery service of hot meal) for the Tsunami victims. On May 18 to 19, Balangon banana was delivered with eel rice bowl.

Balangon banana, donated by growers, were collected, packed and transported to Manila by ATC. Tanaka Seika Inc. (ripening), You-Package Inc. (repacking) and Taiyo-Shokuhan Inc. (transporting banana to Pal System distribution center) were dedicated to working for the support banana on free of charge. Then Pal System transported banana to Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, then the Takidashi-team (Pal system staffs and I-coop member) distributed more than 3,000 pieces of Balangon banana to 1,600 people.

After the meal service, 10 carton of the Balangon banana were delivered to another evacuation center, too.

I-coop Miyagi member joined the Takidashi-team. She said “I also ate Balangon banana by coop this morning.

Coop staff were preparing the meal set, cooking rice, boiling eel and packing Balangon banana.

1. Assistance from France and Palestine

The Sel de Guerande donates 1,500 Euro for the affected people.

Palestine Agricultural Relief Committee(PARC) and Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) affiliated farmers have launched to support the victims. They plan to sell their olive oil in the local market and the sales will be contributed to the relief and rehabilitation program.

ATJ/APLA will decide how to use the fund when the total amount will be clear. The funeded program will be informed through “Beyond Borders” site.

Balangon Farmers donate banana to victims

1.ATJ provided Balangon banana for victims.

ATJ provided 100 cartons of balangon banana in the middle of March. Half of them were delivered to the displaced people with Ai Coop Miyagi and Pal System transport service while another half by Ai Coop Miyagi, Homeless Support Network Seindaiand Green Coop.The displaced appreciated Balangon banana so much for easy intake and rich in nutrition.

ATJ contributed 30kg of balangon banana to Kanda Syoukai Inc. which has provided meal servicesto the tsunami victims in Iwaki City, Fukushima.

2.Balangon Farmers donate banana.

Many balangon banana farmers responded to the urgent call of Alter Trade Corporation Inc. for victims and they contributed around 3 tons of balangon banana.
The first shipment banana is scheduled to deliver to the victims in Ishinomaki City and Onagawa City, Miyagi prefecture in the middle of May in collaboration with Pal System and Ai Coop Miyagi.

We the growers of Tanjay, Negros Oriental in the areas of Matangad, Malalangse, Novallas, Cogon, Tabuc and Pal-ew wholeheartedly donated these balangon bananas even it is a short banana. We had seen in television and newspaper about the calamity that hit your place Japan, the earthquake and tsunami wherein many of your countrymen or maybe some of your relatives in the said area were died. With this, we the growers of Tanjay sympathize with what happened in your place and people. We are hoping that you will accept our small donations to you all.

We are sending 100 boxes of Balangon Banana as our donation for the March 11, 2011 victims of earthquake and tsunami. This also serve as our thanksgiving to our Japanese consumers for patronizing Tupi Balangon which has helped a great deal in alleviating poverty among our marginalized growers both Muslims and Christians alike. Please note that a majority of our growers were formerly NPA and MILF rebels but are now living peaceful and productive lives. Truly indeed Balangon is a fruit of love and peace.

バナナ生産者が無償バナナで被災者を支援

1) バランゴンバナナを被災者へ提供しました。

ATJは、震災直後の3月中旬、救援物資として被災地でも手軽に食べられるバランゴンバナナ100ケースを提供しました。50ケースは、大宮中央青果市場に運搬と追熟加工にご協力をいただき、パルシステム連合のトラックであいコープみやぎへ、同数を筑豊青果に選別のご協力をいただき、グリーンコープ連合を通じてあいコープみやぎ、ホームレス支援全国ネットワーク仙台拠点に届けました。

また、（有）神田商会（バランゴンバナナ事業初期に仕分け事業を依頼）による福島県いわき市避難所への炊き出し活動へもバナナ30kgを提供しました。

2）バランゴン生産者が無償バナナを提供

4月初旬、オルター・トレード社（ATC）がバランゴン生産者に対して震災被災者への支援を呼びかけたところ、ネグロス東州ドマゲティ、ミンダナオ島ツピの生産者98家族が無償バナナの提供を申し出てくれました。

第1便バナナは5月18日からあいコープみやぎを通じて被災者へ提供される予定です。第2便も5月14日に東京に入港予定です。

【生産者から被災者へのメッセージ】
3月11日の地震と津波で被災された皆さんにバランゴンバナナをお届けします。被災者の皆さんの厳しい状況をテレビで見てむねが痛みました。私たちにできることは、丹精こめて育てたバナナをお届けすることです。
私たちは日本の消費者の皆さんにバランゴンバナナを買っていただくおかげで貧困から立ち上がってこれました。暮らしも少しずつよくなってきています。日本の皆さんへの恩返しとして、今厳しい状況に置かれている被災地の皆さんに、仲間98人が、10本、30本、50本と持ち寄って、合わせて3トンほどのバナナをお届けします。私たちのささやかな気持ちをお受け取りください。

3）フランス、パレスチナでも支援の輪が広がる。

ゲランドの塩職人組合直営の販売会社「サリーヌ・ド・ゲランド社」より1,500ユーロ（176,085円）もの義捐金を頂きました。

パレスチナでは、パレスチナ農業復興委員会（PARC）、パレスチナ農業開発センター（UAWC）の支援を受けるオリーブ生産者が、自分たちが作ったオリーブオイルを現地で販売、売上げを被災者に送る活動を始めています。

April 10th ‘Stop Nuclear Power Plants! Global Action Day’

April 10th! Let’s do it!

As a result of the earthquake, the Fukushima nuclear power plant is now in a terrible situation.

Even though we’ve always been told that it’s a safe and green power, in the end, an accident happened and radiation is being leaked!! It’s dangerous!! It’s frightening!! To boot, the rescue in areas affected by the disaster is being set back, and the neighboring fishes, vegetables, houses, everything, has been ruined. Really, give me a break. We’d be better off getting rid of nuclear power at once.

As this really pisses me off, let’s trigger a super huge demonstration and show them what we really want! April 10, Kouenji! Not only there, but let’s take action at the same time all over the country and the world!
